Real-money rummy on A23 (and every other major Indian operator) is no longer available because of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which came into force on 1 October 2025. If you still have money sitting in your A23 wallet, the balance is yours and can be withdrawn through the standard cash-out flow inside the app or website. What follows is how that flow works, what can delay a payout, and what the app looks like now that cash tables are gone.

What changed on 1 October 2025

The central government banned online "games played for money wagered" across the whole country. The rule is federal, so it applies in every state and union territory, regardless of what state-level rules used to say. Once the law took effect, the big rummy and card platforms - A23, RummyCircle, Junglee Rummy, RummyCulture, Adda52 and My11Circle among them - pulled their real-money products from the Indian market.

In practical terms that means:

  • Cash tables and tournaments are closed. You can no longer deposit or stake money on any rummy product from these operators in India.
  • Your existing wallet balance is not forfeited. Operators are expected to let users withdraw funds that were already in their accounts when the ban took effect.
  • Free rummy is unaffected. Practice tables, social play, and any "no stake" mode on the same apps still work, because the law targets paid play, not the game itself.

If you opened the A23 app recently and cannot find your usual deposit or join-cash-table buttons, that is by design, not a bug.

Withdrawing a remaining A23 wallet balance

The exact screen labels shift between Android, iOS and the web client, and A23 occasionally updates them. The general flow is the same across versions.

Where to find the withdrawal option

  1. Log in with the phone number or email tied to your A23 account.
  2. Open the My Account or Wallet section, usually reachable from the profile icon in the top corner.
  3. Look for a button labelled Withdraw, Cash Out, or Redeem. On some versions it sits inside a "Transactions" or "My Wallet" sub-menu.
  4. Enter the amount, pick a destination, and submit.

If you do not see a Withdraw button at all, switch to the website at the operator's official domain and check the same wallet area there. Some users find that the website exposes a withdrawal flow that the app has hidden or greyed out after the cash-play shutdown.

KYC and verification checks

Before the first withdrawal, A23 is required to verify who you are. Expect to be asked for one or more of:

  • A PAN card (mandatory for cumulative withdrawals above a threshold set by Indian tax rules).
  • An Aadhaar number or other government-issued photo ID.
  • A bank account proof such as a cancelled cheque, passbook scan, or a recent statement.
  • A live selfie or short video match against your ID.

Submit these inside the app under KYC or Verification. A23 may also do an in-app video KYC, in which case a short on-screen call with a verification agent is normal and free.

Where the money can go

Withdrawals on Indian rummy apps typically settle to one of three destinations:

  • Bank account via NEFT, IMPS or RTGS. This is the slowest and most common method for larger amounts.
  • UPI-linked bank account through your saved UPI ID. This is usually the fastest.
  • Prepaid instruments such as Paytm Wallet or similar, when the operator supports it.

The menu will show only the methods your KYC level allows. If your preferred option is missing, that almost always means the linked KYC document is incomplete.

What slows a payout down

Even before the law changed, A23 withdrawals could take anywhere from minutes to several working days. The variables that matter are:

  • Verification status. Unverified or partially verified accounts get held in a manual review queue.
  • Amount size. Small balances often clear automatically, larger ones go through a second review.
  • Bank-side processing. IMPS usually settles within minutes during banking hours, NEFT batches run in set windows, and weekends or bank holidays push settlement into the next working day.
  • Name match issues. If the name on your A23 account, PAN, and bank account do not match exactly, the withdrawal will be flagged and held until you fix it.
  • Tax deduction at source. Winnings above the threshold defined under Indian tax law are subject to TDS. The operator deducts it before paying you, and the net amount lands in your account.

What to do if a withdrawal is stuck

If your withdrawal request has been pending longer than the time stated on the operator's help page, work through these steps in order.

  1. Check the help section in the app or website. A23 publishes its own stated processing window for withdrawals; compare your request against that.
  2. Confirm KYC is fully green. Open the Verification screen. Anything marked pending or rejected will block a payout.
  3. Confirm bank details. A wrong account number, IFSC, or UPI ID is the most common reason a payment "fails silently" and gets refunded to your wallet a few days later.
  4. Email support with your user ID and transaction ID. Ask for the current status and the reason for any hold. Keep the email short and factual.
  5. Use the grievance officer route. Indian online gaming rules required operators to name a grievance officer and publish contact details. A23 lists this on its site. If support does not respond within a reasonable window, write to the grievance officer with the same details.
  6. Escalate to the consumer forum if needed. If a clear, verified balance is still not paid out, a consumer complaint is a realistic next step. Keep screenshots of your wallet, your withdrawal request, and every email to support.

There is no advantage to creating a second account or asking a friend to withdraw on your behalf. Operators flag and freeze related accounts, and it can make the original problem harder to resolve.

Using A23 after the real-money shutdown

The rummy product itself has not been banned. A23 still offers the game in free mode, which means:

  • Practice tables and free tournaments are still there for users who want to play the format casually.
  • Progress, leaderboards, and cosmetic rewards continue to work in the free lobby.
  • No real-money deposits are accepted, and no real-money prizes are paid out.

If your goal was to keep playing the game while waiting on a withdrawal, the free tables are the right place to do it. Just remember that anything inside the free lobby is non-monetary.

Practical takeaway

  • Open the A23 app or site, go to Wallet, and start a withdrawal against whatever balance is showing. That balance belongs to you and operators are required to honour it.
  • Finish KYC first if anything is pending. A clean PAN, Aadhaar and bank match is the single biggest factor in getting paid quickly.
  • If the request stalls, escalate in order: in-app help, support email, then the grievance officer listed on the operator's website.
  • Once your balance is out, the app still works for free rummy if you want to keep playing the format.
